KittyCulinary Wild edible Plant Walk

zaterdag 10 augustus

with Kitty Hinkenkemper
Join Kitty for a walk through and around Edible Park (Zuiderpark) as we identify and sample some of the overlooked, nutritious and often delicious species growing there.
Did you always wonder how mugworth looks like, what the benefits of dandelion are or how to reconise ground elder? Come and walk with her!

Kitty is excited to offer another wild edible plant walk in and arounf Edible Park -this time in English) and share some delicious wild edible bites with you!

When Kiity was a kid, she used to go foraging with her family. Collecting nuts and berries so her mom could make the most delicious jams. It was a nice combination between playing, foraging and learning at the same time. In her training as a Shiatsu therapist, she came into contact with Chinese medicinal plants. That got her interest in medicinal, but also in wild edible plants again. A few years ago she followed a course in Herboriste and also did several courses in Permaculture. Because of this she has learned even more. In the last 5 years she organized plant walks and plantwalk dinners by appointment.

Kitty in the fieldsThe walk is often not more then 1km. Make sure you take a bottle of water with you and  be prepared to taste some greens you have never tasted before.

We gather at Eetbaar Park. Kitty will tell you about the foraging rules in Holland and the do's and the don'ts. Explain what you can eat raw or cooked, which part of the plants is eaten when and of course let you, see, smell, feel and taste. All our sensory organs will be tickled and extra spoiled by some bites she made with the plants.
The walk will not be a big distance as the goodies grow in abundance.

We all prefer dry weather. If it is pouring we can delay the walk for a few hours. If it is just a drop, please take your umbrella and make sure that you are dressed warm.
